This Privacy Policy sets out the privacy practices of DAYS INTERNATIONAL.

"Protection of privacy" is recognized as a significant priority theme in managing DAYS INTERNATIONAL in cooperation with the monthly magazine DAYS JAPAN. We, like our customers, consider personal information as an information asset to be protected and we assume that important obligation of providing reliable security.

Any time DAYS INTERNATIONAL acquires, uses or provides personal information, the purpose of such usage will be made clear to the user, with appropriate measures taken within the scope necessary, upon securing an agreement with the user, for carrying out the appropriate methods of such acquisition and sharing. Personally identifiable information will not shared with or disclosed to a third party without the user’s consent. DAYS INTERNATIONAL is to provide its staff with thorough training in maintaining the company’s high standards in these matters.

Managing Personal Information

1.Privacy Protection Manager

DAYS INTERNATIONAL appoints the following person as manager in charge of privacy protection matters. This person will be responsible for managing issues related to the acquiring, access, use and joint-use, and sharing of personal information:

3.Policy on Sharing Personal Information with a Third Party

Our company will appropriately supervise the personal information that has been acquired. We will not provide the information to a third party without obtaining consent from the individual in advance. Yet, there are exceptions in following cases:

When the law requires the personal information to be provided.

When the personal information is needed to protect a human life, body, mentality or property, yet the individual’s approval is difficult to receive.

When the national or local public institutions, including their assigned agents, require the personal information to be provided in order to execute operations according to the law, yet the individual’s approval could possibly interfere with the execution.

When the management of personal information is confided or provided to corporations that are obligated to protect the secrecy of the information, in order to precede the collection of subscription fees or sales of merchandise, listed above as the Purpose of Use No. 2. The limited personal information required could be disclosed to the delegated corporation to operate the service.

The delegated corporations could include such corporations listed below, yet it is not limited to these corporations only:

-Publication companies, photograph agencies, printing companies, publication sales agencies, wholesale companies, stores and distributors.

-Packing companies and delivery services

-Companies providing customer support services

-Credit card account agencies or payment collection agencies

Our company may modify the acquired personal information according to the changes of the names of the cities, financial institutions, zip codes and expiring dates of credit cards, which may be necessary in order to deliver merchandise and charge bills.

In order to disclose the personal information to the individuals, we will identify the person by using more than two of the methods listed below:

-Individual customers who purchased our merchandises or applied for subscriptions: We will ask for identification of the full names, addresses, phone numbers, customer code and e-mail addresses of the customers.

Replying system for requested disclosure of information:
We will reply the customers by sending letters (or E-mails) to the contacts listed on the application. If the customer wishes us to reply through other methods, he/she must inform us during the inquiry procedure.

Reasons for not disclosing the personal information:

If the customers meet the following situations (1) – (7), we will not be able to disclose the personal information requested. In these cases, we will send notifications that list the rejected reasons.

  1. (1) When the address given by the customer does not match the address listed on the application, identification documents, or our company’s registration data, and we cannot identify the customer.
  2. (2) When a representative is requesting the personal information and we cannot confirm the rights for proxy.
  3. (3) When there are flaws on the set applying documents.
  4. (4) When the requested disclosure is beyond the limits of personal information disclosure.
  5. (5) When there is a possible threat to harm the individual’s or a third party’s life, body, property, or other basic rights and profits.
  6. (6) When there is a possible threat of a remarkable interference with the appropriate operations of our company’s services.
  7. (7) When the disclosure is a violation of the law.
