The Republic of Kiribati
The seabirds at Christmas Island (a. k. a. Kiritimati)

The Christmas Island in the Republic of Kiribati is also known as the habitat of seabirds.
Without the wild animals to be natural enemies, this land is “a paradise” for the birds.
This is the aspects of the seabirds I met at the island where countless numbers thereof live in.

The Photos and the Text by Yukihiro FUKUDA

The Lesser Noddy chick. On the scattered grown scrubs, the adult Lesser Noddy build their nest which is a small dish in size with seaweeds and grasses. The size of a newborn chick is that of a thumb. The white feathers, their most attractive feature, are maybe the device for keeping their heads cool, I wonder. All photos are taken at Christmas Island, Kiribati, in July, 2008.
